Calliope

expand your horizons

The light of Greece opened my eyes, penetrated my pores, expanded my whole being…” (Henry Miller)

Perched on a hillside with sweeping 180-degree views across the Ionian Sea to the neighbouring island of Kefalonia, Calliope is a truly exceptional holiday retreat. Recently renovated to a high standard, this beautifully modernised villa spans three levels and features four spacious en-suite bedrooms.

NEW: Zakynthos Rackets Club

Calliope now offers access to OUR OWN PRIVATE tennis and padel facilities, shared EXCLUSIVELY with FOUR neighbouring villas.

  • The courts are located approximately a 5-minute walk from the house, set among olive groves with beautiful views

  • Guests have complimentary access to both courts

  • You may pre-book 1 hour per court per day, up to 48 hours in advance

The spacious, partially shaded front terrace invites long, leisurely afternoons, with deep corner sofas perfectly positioned to soak in the gentle hum of cicadas. An extendable dining table provides an ideal setting for relaxed lunches, framed by panoramic sea views that stretch to the horizon. As evening falls, unwind over a candlelit dinner, enveloped by the soft glow of beautifully illuminated gardens.

I hope we can return to this beautiful place.” (TripAdvisor)

Refurbished to the highest standards, Calliope offers four king-size double bedrooms, each with its own fully modernised en-suite bathroom. Three of the bedrooms can also be configured as twins, making the villa ideally suited to two or three families, or groups of friends travelling together.

Two bedrooms are conveniently located adjacent to the open-plan living area, while a standout 40-square-metre loft suite provides a striking private retreat with its own entrance and secluded terrace above, enjoying exceptional views across the island. This versatile space can also accommodate additional guests with the use of two extra air beds, creating a flexible setup for older children or a family arrangement. Light-filled and spacious, it also includes a work desk positioned to take in the sea views, along with an unusually generous en-suite bathroom offering both a modern walk-in shower and a bath beneath a skylight, open to the deep blue Greek sky.

A fourth en-suite double bedroom opens directly onto the pool terrace, offering a peaceful, private sanctuary away from the main house.

One of Calliope’s most distinctive features is the abundance of outdoor terraces and shaded lounging areas thoughtfully arranged throughout the property. These versatile spaces allow guests to step away from the liveliness of a house party, find a quiet moment away from energetic children, or simply escape the midday Greek sun. Whether seeking solitude or a peaceful place to unwind, each area offers a calm and secluded setting in which to relax in comfort and tranquillity.

🚤 Boating

Private boats are available from Micronisi (Nico Stoufis: +30 695 031 566), with or without a skipper.

Highly recommended trip:

  • Blue Caves

  • Navagio (Shipwreck) Beach

Crystal-clear water makes this ideal for swimming and snorkelling.

Tip:
Go in the morning—afternoon winds can make conditions rough, especially in the north.

Boats to Turtle Island (Marathonisi) are also available from Laganas (approx. 45 minutes’ drive).

🏄 SUP / Paddle Boards

Available in Alykes (25 minutes away), which also offers sandy beaches and calm waters.

🐢 Turtles

Visit Turtle Bay in the south of the island (boats from Keri Beach or Laganas).

A rare chance to see loggerhead turtles in their natural habitat.

Please respect wildlife:
Do not touch turtles and swim calmly if nearby.

⛪ Volimes & Anafonitria Monastery

Explore peaceful monasteries and traditional villages in the hills.

The drive to the Shipwreck Beach viewpoint is spectacular—offering views as impressive as by boat.

Stop along the way for local crafts and produce.

🏖️ Beaches

The best sandy beaches are in the south:

  • Alykes

  • Alykanas

  • Laganas

These are more developed and can be busier, but offer easy access and calm swimming.

🌞 Final Tips

  • Book restaurants ahead in peak season

  • Plan boat trips early in the day

  • Support local producers where possible

  • Explore beyond the main tourist spots
